This one is simply called ‘Clean’ and is something that actor Gwyneth Paltrow swears by as having profound benefits and which she recommends to friends as well. This detox diet has weight loss benefits, adds mental clarity and ends chronic depression, says the lissome Hollywood beauty.
The detox diet consists of two liquid meals a day as well as veggies, chicken and buckwheat noodles for lunch. Ideally this regime should be followed for three weeks; however, side effects like headaches could occur since this is a caffeine free, low calorie diet.
The idea behind a detox diet is to reduce intake of bad fats, pesticides and additives in our food and drink and strengthen the organs.
According to nutritionist Amanda Ursell, the following detox tips can be followed –
- Reduce the intake of caffeinated drinks in a day and try to replace these with herbal teas or with water.
- Once a day, try and eat healthy foods such as porridge, apples or pears, pulses, muesli and oatibix.
- Cut out that old villain processed foods, as far as possible. This includes breakfast cereals (most of them anyway), all ready to eat meals (the heat and eat or dinner on a tray types) and all fast foods and junk foods as well.
