From years of being a weightlifter, football player, and now a professional wrestler, my shoulders have taken a pounding. I just finished a 12 week muscle building routine where I put on 11lbs of muscle naturally using kettlebell complexes. The last workout I had I tweaked my left shoulder because of the large volume of overhead movements envolved in the complex. I switched to get-ups and after two weeks my shoulder is almost back to normal. Amazingly enough I've been able to keep my mass by doing get-ups instead of heavy presses and my goal is to try and build bigger shoulders using get-ups as my big press. Get-ups rule and I'll keep you posted on my trials with turkish get-ups. Kettle bell up!!

The turkish get-up is a weird name, but it is the best full-body and core workout you can do with a kettlebell. Best of all, it's functional strength. Thanks for the in-depth look at this great exercise. Good article.
