Initially the research had conducted on the fat mice and they confirmed that fat mice had a blunted immune system which means that obese people are at a greater risk of developing bacterial infections.
P.gingivalis is a bug that causes periodontal illness. The research conducted on mice said that fat mice had higher levels of P.gingivalis and were suffering from more bone loss around their teeth.
