Pros and Cons of Exercising

Even though you may have allergies, you should continue to try to exercise. It is a proven fact that exercising will help with your immune system, and therefore it will decrease your allergic reactions.

You will need to make sure that you do not exercise too much though, because this seems to have an adverse affect if you have allergies, and can actually decrease what your immune system can do for you.

Breathing

If you have allergies, you may have experienced trouble breathing during your workouts. Different triggers can bring on allergy attacks, and hamper your breathing. When you are exercising you are supposed to try to breathe out of your nose because your nose will filter irritants for you.

You may have found that this is sometimes impossible if you are a person with allergies. Doing exercises when you are congested is not a good idea. You will want to breathe out of your mouth when your chest hurts, and irritants can end up in your bronchial tubes, or even in your lungs.

Food Allergies

You need to be very careful what you eat before you exercise. Some foods that you eat before workouts can bring on anaphylaxis. This can be life threatening to you, and you will want to avoid any foods that have caused this reaction in the past.

This can be crucial to your health. It is always a good idea to carry Benadryl or some other allergy medications with you when you are outside exercising.

Rashes While Exercising

While you are outside exercising, you may end up with a skin rash called Dermatitis. Many different triggers can bring on dermatitis. If you get near poison ivy or poison oak while you are working out then you can come down with this skin irritation.

Hives are another rash that you may have to deal with when outside exercising. They will appear as swollen red blotches on your skin and several triggers can cause these hives.

You should not let fear be your guide and prevent you from doing something that can be so good for you. Being prepared with good information when you are a person that wants to exercise with allergies will be very beneficial.
