However, one thing that was not mentioned was that the kind of b-12 found in oral supplements (cyanocobalamin) is not nearly as bio-available as the kind found in some patches (methylcobalamin)

Lots of multi-vitamins only contain 5 or 10 mcg of the cyanocobalamin B-12. The body then has to convert it to methylcobalamin before it can be used. And the actual absorbtion of vitamin B-12 is a serious problem with oral supplementation. For example, if you take 500 mcg of vitamin B-12 you can absorb as little as 1.8 mcg into the body. That is 99% waste!  Transdermal patches are far more efficient, deliving the bio-available version of B12 straight to the bloodstream in a steady, controlled way throughout the day.
