Hamstring stretch is one type of stretching exercises which will help you to stretch the muscles present in your body.

Basically there are four hamstring stretches that will make your joints flexible. These four hamstring stretches are explained as follows:

Hamstring stretch in sitting position:

  • In this exercise, you have to first sit on the floor by keeping your both legs straight.
  • Now you have to extend your both arms in such a way that they should touch your feet by bending your waist.
  • While doing this, you should keep your knees straight as far as possible.
  • Hold in the position for 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Now relax for some time and repeat the same exercise for 5 to 6 times.
  • This exercise will help to stretch your waist. You will not get any pains in your waist if you perform this exercise daily.

Hamstring stretch in sitting position:

  • In this exercise also, you have to first sit on the floor by keeping your one leg straight and other leg bend at the knee.
  • Now you have to position the sole of your foot against your opposite inner thigh [Inner thigh exercises].
  • Extend your both arms and touch your straightened leg foot by bending your waist as far as possible.
  • You should not bend your straightened leg knee while touching your foot.
  • You should hold in the position for 10 seconds.
  • You can relax after 10 seconds and you have to repeat the same exercise with other leg straightened and by bending the opposite leg.

Hamstring stretch in standing position:

  • In this stretch, you have to stand and you should cross your right foot in front of your left foot.
  • Now you have to slowly lower down your forehead to your right knee by bending at the waist.
  • You should keep your both knees straight while doing the exercise.
  • You should hold in the position for 10 to 15 seconds.
  • After a little bit of relaxation perform the same exercise by crossing your left foot in front of your right foot.

Hamstring stretch in standing position:

  • You should stand one foot away from the wall and you should place your hands on the wall at your shoulders height, shoulder width apart.
  • Now take a step back with one leg while pushing into the wall.
  • You should keep your back straight and you should press your heels into the floor.
  • You should hold in this position for 10 seconds.
  • You should repeat the same exercise by a step forward.
