So many of us find that our best intentions come to naught when we find ourselves slipping and giving in to the food temptations to indulge in the occasional binge. Now there could be help in the form of an experimental anti obesity drug that will help reduce body weight by curbing appetite. The results were seen to accrue within one year when combined with healthy diet and regular exercise
The experimental drug, which contains the antidepressant bupropion and the addiction drug naltrexone used to treat addictive disorders, curbs food cravings and also taps into the brain’s craving and reward system to help users lose excess weight.
These are features that set this experimental drug apart from others that have hitherto preceded it.
The studies have shown the drug to be efficacious.
In a 52 week study, it was seen that those participants who took the higher dose of the new pill lost 6.1 percent of their body weight, those who received the lower dose shed 5 percent of their body weight and those who were administered the placebo lost 1.3 percent of their body weight.
According to researchers, this supplement will be helpful for those people to whom craving interferes with their ability to stay on a diet.
